Jazz ensemble

As a percussionist with the Royal Netherlands Navy Band, I founded Bars & Bones, a jazz septet built around the orchestra’s trombone section—three tenors and one bass—alongside vibraphone, double bass, and drums.
I arranged and composed original music for the group.

I reimagined the ensemble’s sound. Since assembling four trombones was challenging, I changed the horn section to saxophone and trumpet with bass trombone, creating a richer, more versatile palette. This evolution led to my current Jazz Sextet, the Niels Jenster Good Vibe Group.
